Post Mother's Day Gala 2024

We would like to congratulate our 2024 TCC Woman of the Year! Ms. Dorothy McLaurin was the 2024 Grand Prize Winner! Dorothy is a survivor of domestic violence.  Dorothy is more than her pain, she exudes confidence, she radiates compassion, and she walks in love! Dorothy has worked as a Registered Nurse for many years caring for others. She wears many hats, including that of an author mother, a sister, a grandmother, a friend... She is our 2024 Phenomenal Woman!

Dorothy shares her story:

My pain started early in life being caught in a house fire as baby. That led to many years of rejections from others including my mother because of the scares the fire left. Looking for love from anyone, I became a teenage mom at 15 years of age. Finally, I had someone to love and would love me back, only for the baby to die six months later. Surviving my suicide attempt, I choose the first man that would even consider me. I lived with years of physical, mental, verbal, sexual and financial abuse from 16 to 45 years old. it's during those difficult times that I learned who God was and trusted his plan for my life.
